Extremely hot to the touch Sep 30, 2009 CAUTION! This heater gets extremely hot to the touch. The wall behind the heater will also get quite hot. I have been using this heater for over a year to heat my bathroom which has no other source of heat. I have it connected to a thermostat that plugs into the wall outlet. I have to set the thermostat way up between 76-78 to maintain the room around 69 because the heater, the wall, and the thermostat will get very hot before the room begins to get warm. If you don't connect the heater to a thermostat, the heater will get incredibly hot to the touch. I can't tell that it has saved any on my electric bill over the oil-filled radiator heater I had been using previously. It is low profile and unobtrusive except the plug sticks straight out and when you connect that to a thermostat it sticks out about 5 inches. It would have been nice to have a flat 90-degree plug and a storage mechanism for the excess power cord.

Performed much better then expected! Feb 02, 2009 I researched a lot of supplemental type of heaters before deciding on this one. Delivery was prompt, installation simple. I installed this in my family room which is on the walk-in level of my home in Michigan. No matter what I turn my natural gas heater up to, the lower level where this room is located is always a bit cold especially the floor area. After a couple of hours, I thought.. hmmm... I don't think this is going to make much difference. My downstairs was still about 4-6 degree cooler then the upstairs. Decided to leave it on overnight, checked the next morning and the warmth as soon as I hit the downstairs said it all.. I was quite suprised and very impressed! I was able to turn the upstairs thermostat down a few degrees and the downstairs continues to maintain about the same temp as upstairs. The money I will save from turning down the main thermostat will more then make up for any incresase in electricity from the eco-heater.
If you are trying to heat a room with no supplemental heat source, i.e, natural gas furnace, don't bother. If you have a cooler room and tired of cranking up the heat to keep it warm you need this!
Remember, this does not have a fan, but the natural flow of cold/warm air replacement makes this heater feel as if there is a fan circulating the heat. You gotta try it to believe it! And, with a cost near $100 to purchase, you can't lose.

Does Not work Jan 16, 2009 WARNING - READY THE RETURN POLICY FIRST....
Returning mine today, which according to the return policy, will cost me 20% restocking fee and I have to pay the return shipping.
This heater didn't even heat a small bedroom (12 x 12). After 6 hours, the temp dropped in the room from 69deg (with old electric heater) to 53deg with the ECO-heater.
The flat panel was hot to the touch, so I guess it's a good hand warmer, although a pair of gloves would be cheaper.
Bottom Line: Not a space heater and not worth the money.
