Dangerously hot. Avoid if you have children. Nov 18, 2009 I took this out of the box and plugged it in. Within 10 minutes it was extremely hot to the touch. I have children and this is not acceptable.
I am returning it immediately.
Want another reason to avoid? There is no thermostat.

great heater for infant room Nov 16, 2009 This is a great product. We did a lot of research before buying this heater, as we were concerned about safety. We bought this for our child's nursery because we wanted to keep the nursery warm but not have to heat the whole house as high. I will highlight several points:
1) Customer service is great: I called them with several questions and they answered them all
2) Delivery was fast and installation VERY easy.
3) We plug it into a thermostat so it only heats the room up to what we set it to on the programable thermostat. This works great so we know it will shut off if the room gets over 71 degrees. We also installed a fire detector above the panel just in case as an added precaution.
4) The room we have it in is small, only about 12 ft by 12 ft, so one panel does the job easily.
5) While the panel does get hot to touch, it does not seem hot enough to burn my hand. That said, I would not leave a child that does not know to pull his/her hand away unattended with it on.
There were several complaints about cracks appearing, etc. Thus far we have not had any cracks, I hope this does not happen to ours. We have been using it for about 1 month and it is working great. But, if things change I will update the review. We did get our first electricity bill and it was barely affected by the use of the heater as far as we could tell.

Nice while it lasted. Nov 15, 2009 I bought these units two years ago. They worked very well during that time. However, this year when I turned them on I smelled something strange. I came back the next day to find a black and melted mark where the power supply connects to the unit. It also had stopped working. About a week later I came down to turn on the second unit and found that it was turned on but was not working. I touched the spot where the cord enters the unit and it fell out. I am NOT going to attempt to get them replaced because I do not feel secure having these units in the house anymore. I really liked the concept and enjoyed them while they lasted however, coming downstairs and finding melted electronics is not really comforting.

less then pleased Nov 12, 2009 This heater gets VERY hot to the touch. The add stated that it did not. It hasn't been cold enough here yet to determine the electric use.
perfect for my cockatiel Nov 09, 2009 I bought this heater for right by my cockatiels cage as it gets so cold at night and he's by a window. I thought it would help with electricity costs too, but it does not heat the whole room. It is perfect for right by his cage. that exact area stays very cozy, but probably not an entire room heater. There is no temperature option it's either on or off. But I really love it. Even for the price.
